Wind farm

One subject I have wanted to photograph was a wind farm at night, under the full moon. I came close to this last Friday. This wind farm is at Spearville, Kansas, which is a small rural town in southwest Kansas. I was coming home from 2 days of shooting around western Kansas, and passed through Spearville about an hour after sunset. The moon was nearly full and high in the sky, but I am not sure how much it contributed vs the lights from town. There is a gas station across the road behind me, and some lights in the pull off which helped light up the wheat field. 7D, ISO 800, f/7.1, 10 seconds. I cropped a little off of the left and the bottom. Looking at other images I made after this one, I feel there was just enough light left on the horizon in this image, even compared to an image made a couple minutes later.

Very interesting image! I do like what you captured both on the ground and in the sky. Shows good technique and a good eye for composition IMHO. Thanks for sharing.

Rather fascinating scene. It is a forest of a very different nature.

Interesting subject Rob. Without explanation I'd probably not guessed a wind farm. Well done.
