Cattle Egrets Mating

Lake Livingston Rookery. Accessible only by boat. May 2012

D4. ISO 800. 500/4 with 1.4x tc. f5.6 1/1250s. Monopod with ball head used. Lots of wind with boat twisting required frequent repositioning and seemed to work better than my tripod. I got 2 new grab anchors and am going to try to use one on each end of the boat for better stability. Trying to work on the best technique for this area.

Couple of branches cloned.

The cattle egret are truly transformed during mating season.

Well handled whites; nice detail. Impressive from a boat and monopod.

I've never seen them in breeding plumage. Nice work capturing the colors and this behavior.
