I'm with Carolyn on Dandelions. Especially when they go to seed, they make great macro subjects where I like the sense of an explosion of seeds (hence the title). Here's a side view. The first one I saw, I took a few shots, went inside to process them and realized that I needed a bit more dof, plus the center was blown. When I went back, the wind had blown most of the seeds away! I then took matters into my own hands and plucked the seeds from this head. The detached but not blown away seed was a nice unplanned addition. (5D, 100mm macro L + 20mm ET, f/22, 0.3 s, iso 200, tripod & cable release)

Yes, it is that time of year! Hey, just because they are unwanted in our lawns doesn't mean they don't have their own beauty to appreciate. I like this side view with the good DOF to see the seeds in detail. Maybe we need to start a dandelion series seeing how creative we can get shooting these puffballs.

We've already started with Hali's flower shot from last week. Now all we need to do is lean on the moderator to declare "Dandelion Week".

The same subject with completely different results. Very nice shot, Mark.
I like the details on the seeds and the colours of the BG.

Congrats

Your "arrangement" is terrific. Especially against those great BG colors. I really like this a lot. It reminds me of the spray of a peacock's colors. :toast:

What a great idea Mark, wish I'd thought of it
What did you use for the contrasting BG colors?
Very nice! :toast:

Hmmm, I must have missed the call for Dandelion Week. Great theme. I've got a few promising subjects not far from my, well, front door. :frown: As with Carolyn's post, I like the symmetry. I also really like the nice even light and superb detail allowing for a great close, almost dissection type view of the "inner" dandelion. Scientific, yet artistic. Well done, Mark. :toast:

Hi Mark :wavey: First, lets change the title to dandelion:" strip tease" Without all the seeds it really looks nude  Seriously, its a great shot :jump: with fine symmetrical lines, and fine detail ...... Love the very unusual perspective of a dandelion, with the remaining seeds.

I'm a big believer in the beauty of things that most people don't believe are beautiful and this is another great example. Love the symmetry with this and the artful dissonance of the detached seed. Great bg colors, beautiful detail.
