Canon 50D, f 5.6, 1/200. Played with levels quite a bit on this azalea to try to get the best grey scale shadings.

Beautiful BW creation. I don't know but I feel that a bit lower light level coud even make better. You should try.

Very nice work, Lucy. I like what you did. My only nit is with the two prominent stems in the top left center. The image would be even better without them, but I'm being pretty picky.

Lucy - Superb take on the Azalea Flowers. Lighter and the darker tones play magic on the eyes. Agree with Scott's observation on the two stems being somewhat of a distraction.

Very nice take on this flower Lucy, great idea, the two stems do dominant the scene but I am not opposed to them as they seem to ground the image for me . :wavey:

Thanks all so much for taking the time to comment. Rick, I had experimented with darker exposures but when I went darker it diminished the rich range of greys. Also, as some of you suggested, I removed the stems to compare and was almost convinced. But somehow—don't quite know why— I like the balance of an added touch of true black up there. Thanks again.
