Another in my life of a magnolia. Soon to bloom. I kinda liked the wrapped and protected look of the bud.
D80, ISO 100, 70-300 @ 300, F18 @ 1.8sec, tripod, shutter release.
All comments and critique appreciated. Thanks
Bob

Bob, I like that protected look as well and how the dark green leaves frame the bud. Really enjoyed your Magnolia series (I recall you winning a WP last year for a Magnolia shot as well) .
I am a little intrigued by the slight loss of sharpness in your Magnolia shots. I am not certain if its due to subject movement due to a large enough shutter speed or diffraction kicking in at narrow apertures. Something you may want to analyze.

I agree with Ram. With a tripod, 1/300, ISO 100 this should be tack sharp.

The thumb really took my eye, Bob - the contrasts in light and dark especially and the centre focused comp. The slight softness in the bud I find a touch distracting, but this remains a lovely image, with the leaves adding their protective wrap for the emerging bud.
