Had the opportunity to take a macro workshop with Mike Moats this weekend in Orlando so i stopped at Gatorland in the morning to shoot first. I was happy with this shot of these two chicks. They have gotten so big in only a few weeks since my last visit. The only thing I had to do was overlay 2 yellow areas in the bg with a low opacity brushing. Once again my MIII is in the shop so I shot with my 40 D and was pretty happy with my images.
Camera Model Canon EOS 40D
Shooting Mode Manual Exposure
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/2000
Av( Aperture Value ) 9.0
ISO Speed 400
Lens EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM +2.0x
sharpening done in CS5, Full frame, tripod

C&C always appreciated Thanks

Nice pattern you captured here, Cheryl. I'm guessing you composed (or chose not to crop) to get the cross-point of the bills in the center, but the asymmetrical empty space on the left and right edges bothers me a bit. I would have preferred cropping the left side a bit to balance it with the right, even if it meant moving the touching bills slightly out of the middle. They form such a pleasing arching shape that it would nice to see it centered (IMO).

Interesting composition and good technical execution Cheryl. Since symmetry is a big part of this photo I might take just a sliver off the left to even it up - really picky I know...

Cheryl,
You were certainly rewarded with a terrific pose of these two little ones. I agree with some that have mentioned taking a little bit off the left side to even the composition out. The exposure was handled beautifully, and the background really makes these two pop. Good depth of field. Your aperture choice was great! Nicely done.

Hey everybody Thanks for the input. As far as the comp goes I actually wanted the point of impact off center as I have done but will certainly crop as suggested and take a look. Going to shoot now.... Thanks again

Cheryl: I like this very much. There are so many patterns and shapes created here (beyond the birds) that attract my eyes, that I find this very easy to look at for quite a while. Technically very well executed. Looks like the old 40D is still quite capable in the hands of a skilled photographer.
