3 second rule

OK, last snail kite for awhile. Unless, I get something out of this world over the next couple of weeks. Here at my home we have a rule, as many do I think. If you drop a piece of food on the floor and can retrieve it quickly (within 3 seconds) then it is fine to eat. Thus, the title of this shot given the piece of snail "meat" falling away from the main portion of snail meat the bird is carrying. OK, we really don't enforce that rule, but I thought it worked for this image.

Nice one as usual Ron. I wasn't as lucky with my snail kite shoot as I wish I used my 2x but then again it is hard to shoot flying birds with it on. I was having to crop alot and with the 7D the noise left me with not so great IQ after the crop. Still had fun though.

Another great snail shot Ron. Neat that you captured the falling snail.

Very polished, professional stuff Ron. Love the sharpness and colors most, but this one ticks all the boxes for me! :toast: :toast:

Ron,
Love the beautiful rainbow of background colors. Compliments the kite wonderfully. The title is what caught my attention Ron. That little morsel of meat falling to the ground really makes this image for me. Sweet wing position and good sharp detail where you want it. The whole bird!!!

I think you should just give up on the kites and focus on falling food.   Sharon

Just shows the dangers of trying to eat while flying. As usual, Ron, you've presented a technically excellent image but one that also tells a part of the story of this species' life. You're a great ambassador for them. Keep it up. And I won't mind additional photos if your upcoming outings are successful.
