Blue wing teal

I have a fondness for water birds and ducks are no exception. I went out with the family this morning for a nice little nature walk and by pure good luck some blue wing teal flew by us as they made their way to the pond up ahead. I typically bring my 500mm and d7k attached to my black rapid strap with me on these walks as one never knows what might jump out of recesses of the wilderness, and I sure was glad to have it with me on this trip. Birding with 4 young kids isn't exactly patient methodical work so I leave the tripods at home and anything I'm fortunate enough to find has to be shot handheld. This was a bit later in the day so the light was rather harsh and overhead, but I was pleased to have the shot. Hope you enjoy it as well.

PS: thank you all for the comments on my previous images.

Nice positions for both birds - always a lot more difficult than with a single subject.

Not easy to get sharp images of these ducks in flight but this looks really good. Depth of field is excellent to have both ducks sharp. Graham
