Rime Factory

One of the last winter storms to hit NH produced some great rime ice above tree line, but the sun and quickly rising temps. allowed it to last only a a very short time. I had hoped for sunrise colors, but the storm took a while to depart and left in its wake some nice backlighting, especially for the mid level clouds drifting by.

Franconia Ridge and Mount Lincoln is in the background.

Great winter scene, Harry. The large version is really interesting to look at and the detail and clarity is wonderful. Those mid level clouds really are a nice touch. Very nice!

Nice comp and ditto on the detail and clarity on the large version. A very cool scene.
My only nit would be to crop or clone the dirty snow in the llc. It doesn't match the pristine look of the rest of the snow.
Very well done!

Wonderful snow textures here. I like the comp with the interesting foreground and depth. Top edge maybe seems a bit bright.

Looks very much like the scenes I was photographing here in the Adirondacks this past winter. All the snow was in the mountains. I like your choice of composition here, lots of interesting elements from the FG to the BG. Glad you were able to get some shots this past winter, it certainly wasn't the best for landscape photography. :wavey:

I didn't appreciate this until I clicked on the small thumbnail... The detail and texture of the snow stands out a ton here. Also, it is accompanied by a perfect comp., IMO. I can only imagine how this scene might look during sunrise or sunset (I don't quite have my bearings...).

This looks great Harry. I like the crisp details in the fg and the 3d look. This also has a metallic looking feel to it which I find very appealing too.
