I met up with my very good friend Charlie again yesterday at Anza Borrego Desert State Park, our favourite haunt. And, testing the new 5D MkIII body, I must say we had a reasonable morning despite the cold and windy conditions. I can only describe this new "backup" body as being a keeper!

5D MkIII, 300mm f2.8 + 2.0X, 1/4000 @ f7.1, ISO1000, handheld. Laptop processed.

Great composition with all the diagonals and the complementary positions of the two birds. The pose of the in-focus bird is very nice. I also really like the color splashes. Light and colors look really nice.

Love the fanned tail and the diagonal perches KC. The two blooms on either side of the image add nicely to the symmetry of the comp. :toast:

A very captivating image KC. Would love to see a larger version for better details, but looks nice from what I can see. Glad to hear the 5D III is a capable camera. Can't wait to start hearing about the 1Dx.

I like the composition and the birds fanned out tail, difficult to judge how sharp it is at this size but it does look a little soft to me.

So wish for both birds to be in focus. One of those, "If only..." kinds of things... After all, though, the bird on the left looks so jaunty and perky and it's a great comp.

Great setting KC - like the series of stems passing through the image.

I really lie your choice for DOF showing the different layers of this shot Kwan. Nice techs as usual and really great comp on a shot that is not easy to compose!
