Long-billed Corella

These cockatoos were endangered back in the 1960s but they have made a spectacular resurgence. We have huge post breeding flocks around at the moment. They feed on the corms of native and introduced grasses. I had lots of shots of individual birds but the essence of corellas is noise and numbers.

I love your sentence about noise and numbers and how that is reflected in this image. Great POV, perfect exposure, great sharpness and really nice detail in the in-focus birds.

Neat that all in the flock are looking left, except the one who seems to be checking you out! Really nice composition of some beautiful birds Rob. :toast:

Nice, Rob. I can't makeup my mind whether I'd prefer more dof or not. Excellent angle.

Great view of a typical mob of corellas on the prowl. I like how they are all facing left.

Rob,
Excellent capture with the two birds in the middle of the image providing sharp detail. You certainly captured the essence of these birds as you say. What a great looking bird and to make a resurgence is fantastic for everyone. TFS :toast:

I have seen herds of cows, elk, deer, all sorts of animals, but I have to say, this is the first time I have ever seen a herd of Long-billed Corellas!! (I know it's a flock, but since they are on the ground it reminds me of a herd)
I really find myself liking this quit a bit Rob. Very interesting behavior.

Way to cool, I really like this composition and low perspective to give you the sense of noise and numbers that you mentioned, excellent shot Rob, well done.
