Frosted Fense Post

Image was shot just west of Spokane, WA, near a small town: "Four Lakes." I pulled off the main road onto a farm road and found this waiting for me.

Nikon D300, manual mode, 18.0mm focal length on a 18-200mm VR lens: ISO 200, SS 1/90, f/16.

Comments welcomed.

Beautiful blend of structures and colors. The frost and fog ...esp in distant view adds much depth. I am longing for a bit more room on right side to view the meadow and see more of that perspective. Swell shot! Captures expertly the eastern Washington countryside and weather.

I like the combination of elements here including the fog. I agree with Ken that a little more room on the right would have been nice. Good image!

Regarding wanting to see more of the meadow to the right...

I wanted to but there was a large fense post with a "No Trespass" sign.

I like this a lot Rick, especially the subtle colour. Your choice of comp works well for me. I think this would make a lovely print.

Gary.

Thoroughly enjoy this, Rick. The fog and frost together with the lovely warm tones in the grasses, the fence posts, and the distant trees really make this a wonderful image. Excellent work.

Great find. The textures near and far work together real well. My only suggestion to possibly improve the image might be to "cool" the frost areas of the image and make them stand out in relation to the warm grasses. The sy and trees look like they ahave a warm color balance. Probably the simplest wa in PS to do this would be to adjust the white colors under the Image Adjustments tab and drag the slider toward less yellow and maybe add cyan. Just a thought if it were mine, very nice as is.

Congrats on your first weekly pick, Rick! Beautiful image! I love all the frost on the fence, and the lighting shows it off nicely. The trees in the background also add to the image. Really cool comp. :wavey:

gorgeous! great comp, too! Love the texture and color of the fg grasses that stand well for the subject and also enhance the appearance of the frosted fenceposts as the main subject. Very pleasing image to view. Congratulations for the Pick!!

Wow, this looks great. I enjoy images that are taken from "normal" subjects and turned into something significant and meaningful. That's the true art. Like a street photography approach applied to natural/rural environment.
