Miniature weed

Don't know the id of this weed but it is quite small; about 1 inch from one bud tip to the other bud tip in this picture. It is growing in a wild area down near the creek. I enjoy crawling around looking for interesting miniature images and then seeing it large in a photo. It's like finding buried treasure!

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/9 for 1/25 sec. ISO 200. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

I do not know the name of the weed Carolyn, but I like the shot. The exposure is spot on and the comp is very interesting.

Very beautiful! I love finding all the tiny flowers too! It's amazing what we can so easily overlook! I wonder if this is Chickweed (I don't remember the scientific name) I never looked that closely at the flowers but I used to eat it a lot!

Carolyn, I really like your chosen comp here! The DOF seem just right as well.

Very nice comp and natural light, Carolyn. The white flowers are beautiful against the green leaves. Well done. :toast:

Love this image. Good detail. Just a few minor points from my point of view. Hard to tell what was available for this shot. In short, I may have pulled back just oh so slightly.

<> The slightly bright object in the back left background is slightly distracting.
<> I may have allow just a little more space at the top frame where the brown tip of the leaf is.
<> Near the top right side, there is (for lack of a better term) a bud and leaf. This spacing against the right frame is great.
<> Directly below that is another leaf. Here I would like to see a little more space from the right frame.
<> If it was possible, I would like to see the whole bud near the bottom right frame, the one just below the white flower.

I know! Pretty picky. Again - Great find and good shot.

Rick, thanks for your comments. I had played around quite a bit with the comp on this, actually doing some of the things you suggested, but ended up liking this comp the best. Some of those comp changes created other problems such as extra things being in the photo I didn't want included. That partial bud on the bottom does bother me some though but I decided to let it go.

Carolyn...

Thanks for the follow-up to my comments. It is always difficult to fully understand the shot limitations when making comments.
