Golden Tanager - Vinci??

Just processed this bird from my Ecuador trip and was amazed to find a "face" on the bird's slightly damaged greater covert. It's just the angle of view but it does stir one's imagination - a friend here came up with Leonardo da Vinci! Whilst I don't post the same image in different Forums usually, I thought this was interesting enough to do so.

1D MkIV, 700mm, ISO800, 1/200 @ f8, fill-flash, tripod, raining, of course!

awesome shot, KC, and an awesome bird. good looking perch. the face is a trip--would love to see it larger. my only nit is that it's a greater covert, not a secondary.

How about adding a 720px tight crop on the "face?"

Thanks, Brian! Duly corrected! And, here's a closer view of the "Face".

neat! I figured it was going to be Jesus or maybe the virgin Mary (being Latin America and all), but it looks more like a skull or maybe a monkey to me.

George Washington for me! A lovely pose and perch. The contrast feels a little heavy, but that may just be me (or my monitor).

George Washington for me as well - a mirror image of his portrait on a one dollar bill.

Beautiful bird well captured. Dollarbird might be a good name, but we already have that species down here.

Beautiful image, Kwan. I wouldn't bet on Leonardo-looks rather Neanderthal to me.

Very nice Golden, Kwan. Good comp, techs and color palette. The damaged covert looks more like an owl to me, but that's because it's time to go feed one. I wonder if the white areas in the flank arose from the same incident that marred to greater covert?
