Tree Peony-A Study in BW-repost

My tree peonies have been beautiful this year so I wanted to try scanning a few, although I hated to cut them off the plant.

Once this one was scanned in, I decided to remove the color and try it as a black and white. I think it makes for a dramatic look and I really love the details.

Epson Perfection V33 Photo Scanner and Nik Software for final processing.

I hope the spring flowers have been as beautiful in your area.

Your comments are always appreciated.

The textures and tones are truly lovely, Barbara - this works extremely well for me in b & w. Not altogether connecting with the off centre composition, though maybe the technique demanded it ?

I really like the conversion and detail Barbara, but I wish the whole was shown.

Just beautiful Barbara , the comp. does not bother me I think it works here, very bold use of the B&W here it works very well. such lovely elegance. If anything I would crop the ULC a bit more and eliminate the dark corner. :toast:

I agree with both Lorna and Ian—either the whole or a further crop. The B/W is very well done. Nik Silver Efex is a great product!

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Unfortunately I was not happy with the entire image (unruly petals) which is the reason for the crop. Thanks for the tip about the upper left corner. Here is the image cropped again. Most of my images will show the entire object, but this one just did not work, but I like the crop.

Appreciate all your comments, and thanks for taking a look.
