Santa Fe Purple Door

by Rick Diffley

Gallery: POP PhotosPosted April 9, 2012202 views4 comments
Image was shot in a back alley in Santa Fe using a Nikon D300 with a 18-200mm lens. Alway shoot in manual mode: IS0 800, f/10, ss 1/90.

This image was chosen for its bright, contrasting colors, and for the lines contained inside the door.

As a new member, I welcome any feedback.

Thank you.

It's quirky, it's unsymmetricl, it's actually gaudy. I like it!

Hi Rick
Welcome to NPN
It seems that I walk right past scenes like this and never even see them. It's terrific!
There is one little thing that is a little bothersome to the engineer/photographer in me. (I keep a bubble level in my hotshoe) I imagine most folks wouldn't notice, but to me It has the look of having been photographed using a wide angle lens, pointed downward. The vertical lines converge towards the bottom making the door look narrower at the bottom than at the top.

The comp and color are nice. I might be tempted to use photoshop to remove the lens distortion (the narrowing of the door at the bottom) and see how it looks.
