Eclipse

Nikon D300, 150mm macro.20mm ext tube.cable release F/20, 1/3sec, ISO 200. Please see the large version

I like how the variations of light around the disc of the bloom resembles an eclipse. The backlighting is done by natural and artificial light. Comments appreciated.

At first I did not like how dark the center of the flower was, but the title made me look at it a bit differently! This is a very original approach to shooting a flower in my opinion! I like all the patterns in the petals as well. Excellent DOF!

I agree with Eirini up to a point. I think there is more detail to be had, or at least tried for in the flower center.

Albert, I like the contrast between the dark center and the brighter backlite petals radiating out.

I like the idea with back light. It is important to see the larger photo where all the nice details are more visible. The point of view is perfect. Very well done Albert.

I like the unusual lighting in this, Albert! The backlit white petals flow nicely out from the wonderfully glowing center. Great comp and DOF choice also; nice sharp center.

Wonderful lighting and composition Albert. I like the outside the box thinking and efforts shown, and the results are top shelf inmy opinion.

The backlighting on this is great. I really like how there glow and darkness in different places, especially the yellow rim around the center. Does look like an eclipse.

I like this Albert, but I wonder if the next time you try this if you could just put a small splash of light in the center by using a reflector or very low powered flash? Not sure if that would work because of the short distance from the lens to the subject. Love the back lighting and comp though.

Think this works very well, Albert. There really is the feel of an eclipse - love the shifts in light and shade over the centre and also the petals.

I love the comp and the backlighting through the petals, Albert! I like the way the dark center looks in the larger version because I can see more detail.

Very cool and unique shot Albert. The larger version really needs to be seen to fully appreciate this one. Also a good example of how the title can make a big difference in how the image is perceived. :toast: Well done.

One of my fav styles of lighting. Beautifully done with fine detail and patterns in the leaves of the bloom. Terrific work.
