Tawney flyby

There were 2 Tawney Eagles on the Oryx kill together with the 18 Black backed Jackals. They took their chances to pick up scraps but were constantly chased around. I like this one for the early morning light, the eye contact and the BG.

Canon 1D MK IV
Canon 500mm f/4.0
1/1250
F8.0
ISO 400

Shot handheld from the car.

Great capture and comp; lovely color palette; the light seems pretty strong for early morning, but I have no experience with the African plains.

Wonderful bird - great wing position, fine detail, and nice eye contact.
The BG seems very bright and competes with the bird. Darkening it considerably would improve this a lot, imo. A program like Viveza 2 would accomplish this easily. Free trial thru Nik, if you're interested.
To me, the dark border seems to accentuate the bright BG even more.

The bird in the larger view looks very sharp. I might try this just a little less bright to see how it looked that way.

Wonderful flight shot with good eye contact and detail on the larger version. That morning light is very strong (something we deal with in SE AZ) but nice job in getting this, way to go.
