Tricolored Heron

Sneeking up on a bird while paddling a kayak in the wind can be quite a challenge. Today I positioned myself and let the wind carry me to the bird. I held as still and I could and captured this stately Tricolored Heron. Does anyone fine the little out-of-control feather a distraction? Thanks for looking.

Cool, Dottie. I like the stray feather-it adds character. Nice job on the exposure. You might want to back off on the zoom a bit when you're shooting these-it feels a bit crowded in the frame and it's easier to remove space than create it unless you have a nice clean bg like sky.

Perhaps a bit of clockwise rotation too. The water line looks kinda' strange.

Excellent photo with all details and high clarity. Dottie IMO you should adjust the horizontal line and allow more space on the top and left side.

Agree with the comments on rotation and tightness. IMHO the feather adds to this photo, also very good color and sharpness. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Cool capture Dottie. I agree wit the clockwise rotation, and suggest a bit more room at the top and right. The feather doesn't bother me; a bird's gotta molt, after all.

Yea, I agree this hereon needs more head room, but I floated in so close that I don't have any to spare. I didn't see the terrible horizon. Thanks for pointing that out. Still can't fix that either for the same reason.
