A reworking of an old favorite dahlia photograph using texture layers. I'm really intrigued by some of the visual effects and would love to hear your reactions and feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Nice one Jim. I really like the comp and muted tones. I kinda wish that the leaves weren't obscuring part of the flower; but that's just a preference.

Beautiful flower, background and photo. The leaf in front of the dahlia is disturbing my eyes. Splendid image Jim.
Take care.

Lots of texturing done in the Photo Art gallery, Jim. This is a masterful presentation of it. Very creative and artistic, it gives the dahlia a special character. The image gives me a feeling of "an offer of condolence" in a poignant, hopeful way.

Very classy, Jim ! The flower could not have been better captured, and the texturing helps create a powerful mood in the image. Very fine photography.

Beautiful processing. I have an antique tea set made in Prussia that looks much like this. Excellent work

Great mix of texture and subtle colors, then bold colors and clear well defined edges of the flower. Love it! Congrats!

Thank you for the excellent feedback and comments! The composition is th edirect result of the dahlias location - hidden way down at the bottom on the back side of the plant - hence the title. I had to straddle the flower bed and plants in a really awkward position to get this angle - but I got it! I'm not crazy about the foreground leaf, but it is part of the story of the image and part of the inspiration for the title.

I took the next step and ran a series of prints on a Hannemuhle William Turner textured mat paper over the weekend. The fourth try was the charm and the print will very likely be part of a photography show in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again, all.
