Pine River

I made this picture last week just as an overnight rain was coming to an end. I was really enjoying the wonderful spring feel while I was there. This is a small river that I spent a lot of time on when I was growing up in Richland Center, WI. I went to this spot thinking about all the time I spent here back then. I was also thinking about how my home made raft came apart at this spot ending my plans to flow in to the Wisconsin and then Mississippi Rivers. A good thing I guess because I know I only had a peanut butter sandwich along. Thanks for any thoughts.

Beautiful image, Nick. The soft light really accentuates the color throughout the scene. This definitely conveys a tranquil moment.

Sometimes I wonder if my emotional attatchment interferes with my judgement about a scene and resulting photo. I wonder if I like it because of the way that I connect to the place rather than because it is a nice photo. No worries here. This is really nice. Perhaps the green in the grasses is a bit intense but if I played with it this might be exactly what I would end up with as well.

Lovely, tranquil spring scene. Looks like a great place for the kind adventure every child should have.

Nick, nicely done. I find this to be a very pleasing image, and could well recall exploring similar sites when I was younger and my parents didn't worry when I would announce I was going to the "woods". thanks for sharing.

Looking at this on a lap top in South Florida, the details in the larger version are incredible. A classic looking WI waters shot. No nits from me Nick.

Thanks guys for the comments and your thoughts so far.
John, Yes, that was the same for me. I could head for the woods and spend several hours and it seemed my parents didn't have to worry. If they did I didn't know it  .
Matt, Thanks. South Florida...its pretty nice up here right now. :wavey: Nick

Some really nice feelings coming across in this scene, Nick. Makes you want to be out there just taking this one in first hand. Only positive thoughts on this capture and the processing as well. Very nice indeed.....

Nick: Nice scenic and glad the flowering tree is in the back. Sounds like a modern day Huck Finn adventure rafting down the river. :toast:

There is a wonderful spring atmosphere for me in your image, Nick. Last signs of winter and first signs of spring are beautifully counteracting each other to me.

This is a fine image! Amazing dedtail enhanced by the emergence of the leaves and blossoms. I like the Huck Finn mentality, man! I have a special affinity for images of places that are close to home and because of that, closer to the heart.

Beautifully peaceful image. The subdued light allows the colors to shine to really shine and the stream disappearing into the distance must lead to many possible adventures.

I sure appreciate all of your comments on this one so far..Thanks! I had lots of small adventures along this river for several years with my brother and a couple of other good friends. Good times to remember for a lifetime because before we knew it we were all gone in seperate directions. Nick

Nick,

The smaller photo just does not do this justice. It is quite nice and tranquil.
