This was taken over two years ago, up near Steamboat Springs. It's a beautiful area with tons of aspen. We didn't have time to worry about the absolute best lighting, etc., but I nabbed this shot before heading home...

Canon Xsi 55-250mm @ 146mm
ISO 200 --- f/8 --- 1/160 sec --- tripod

C and C welcome!

I like the picture. It is a simple picture of aspen boles and yellow foliage, without pretense. The detail and comp are good. The DOF is shallow, but I don't know, given the spacing of the trees, that more would have sufficed to bring anything more into focus.

Nice fall scene - I'd have liked a larger version too, to see the detail in that nice in-focus aspen.

Well-done!

It must be winter. The shot I just posted was from 2010, and then in the following shot Tony said his photo took awhile to grow on him, and now you've got one from a few years ago  ... I'm ready for spring and flowers!

Nice blur of the background to emphasize that forward trunk. I especially like the way the upper "eye" grabs me. You might play with cropping out the leaves on the left.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

John---I can't wait for spring either. We hardly got ANY snow this winter, so things were kinda 'dead' for months on end. But it is weird. Spring is starting right now in Colorado. Seems unusually early, am I right? BTW, those side leaves in the pic are a bit distracting or something...
