Disappearing Act

The snow cover was disappearing fast on the warm morning after our last night of significant snow. Slush bombs were raining down on me and my camera as I shot this. As I was focusing for an extra shot for focus-stacking, a bunch of wet snow fell from above, wiping out the snow on the leaning tree in the foreground. Luckily, f/16 was enough to do the trick on the first shot.

Converted to B&W in CS5

I like your comp Wayne as well as the nice detail in the snow and the cooler tone of your B&W conversion.

Wayne, I appreciate the graphic quality of your composition. The pattern of the water surface really brings the image to life for me. Your b&w conversion works very well for me, too.

Wayne, y'all need some Spring up there! Excellent work on the whites and darks. I like the slight s-curve of the creek and the large bank tree anchoring the LLHC.

Beautiful scene, Wayne! Wish we had some of that here in drought stricken CO... Looks just a bit oversharpened on my laptop. :wavey:

Wayne, I like the comp with the meandering river and the diagonal tree in the foreground. Glad you caught this before the snow got knocked off the front tree!

lovely scene well composed. i like your toning. the dominance of the FG tree leaves me slightly - but only slightly - unsettled.

Wonderful winter scene Wayne. Love the textrues on the snow throughout the image and then the texture in the water adds to it.. Very solid comp with great interest!!

This one works the best for me, Wayne. Just more flow and balance to my eye. I also like the cooler look of this.

Very nice scene and I like the comb. It also seems a little over sharpened to me, or maybe just compression?

Very nice Wayne. I really like how you framed this one. Beautiful winter scene, we didn't get much of that here this year. The large version looks best!
