Another shot of the beautiful Star Magnolia,

a bit weathered and to the end of its life,

but I wanted to capture it for memory,

before the petals began to fall,

just to share with all of you ………

one last time this spring!

shot hand held, Nikon D700, 70-200mm, at 200mm, iso 200, 1/160th at f10

Sally:
The magnolia in a park new me has already finished flowering this year. We do not have this variety so it is interesting to see. I like your frame against the blue sky here and you have handled the white well despite rather strong light. The image may be a tad over-sharpened as there is early halo effect.

Hi Sally :wavey: Your Magnolia shots keep getting better by the post!! Now the Bg is delightful, and the bloom is again well composed with great color and detail

Beautiful perspective on a lovely flower, Sally. You've caught the whites well, and I like seeing the flower with the greenery all around. So sad it will soon be no more ...... but then there's next year !!

Sally great improvement in choice of background and nice handling of the whites considering the harsh lighting situation. We had a hard freeze last night so I don't know if the season is over for the magnolias is over.

Hello, and thanks everyone for your feedback... everytime I would go back and look at this the blue just seemed so stark... so I added a bit of a vignette to the edges, just to darken up the blue a bit... what do you think?

This stands out for me because it looks so nice against the blue sky...not always easy to do, but the contrast and color are excellent. My only nit is a bit of a smear, or something like that (perhaps from cloning?) at the bottom of the frame just to the left of your signature. Otherwise an excellent shot.

Oops, just saw the repost. I slightly prefer the original...the vignette is a little too heavy for me.
