I hadn't been out taking any pics for a while, so headed up in the foothills for sunset. There wasn't any amazing light, so I played around with the clouds and rock. I know this may not be a 'wow' shot, but thought it'd be good to hear feedback on it anyways...

BTW, sometimes I upload a pic, and the colors go flat, so I'm hoping for the best here...

Canon 60d 10-22mm @ 10mm
ISO 100 --- f/14 --- 1/5 sec. --- Hitech 0.9 soft GND

C and C welcome!

This is not a bad image except that it looks flat and lifeless. A good bump in the contrast will add the snap it needs. I like the Tonal Contrast filter in Nik's Color Efex Pro and it works wonders with this shot.

For the most consistent results when uploading images to the web it's best to convert to sRGB color space. This one is in Adobe RGB, that's fine for working on an image but Adobe RGB tends to look flat and dull on the web.

Good landscape but not great. I really like the sky (clouds) in this. I think there is probably good detail on the hill but hard to tell on a small image. If it were mine, I think I would crop some off the bottom to try and get rid of some of the colored sand in the LLC. The rock face has nice interesting detail but not so much in the rest.

The elements and light balance are nice. Compositionally, there seems to be a bit too much rock at the bottom.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! Some great suggestions. I agree---not a real interesting shot, but rock isn't something I get to shoot too often.

Mark---So do I go to 'save for web' in CS5? I'll play around with that and see what happens next photo...
