A Paintbrush

(Castilleja applegatei)

This is a single stem portrait of the Indian Paintbrush featured in my previous post. I applied a bit of selective blurring to the bg to help isolate the main subject and cloned out a dead grass blade. As Wyoming's state flower, Paintbrush was one of the first wild flowers I learned to identify as a child. Comments and suggestions welcome. As always, thanks for looking.

Nancy, good choice on the DOF. You achieved detail throughout the main subject, and a nice, non competing background. I do find the light a little strong/contrasty for my tastes. :wavey:

Really great separation and detail Nancy, I like what you have achieved with this portrait. I don't find the light too harsh for this environment, but I use a diffuser often when I shoot in strong light.

Nancy Lea, I just love paintbrush and this is a gorgeous picture of one. I'd say your processing was on the money.

Just the right DOF, great details and color Nancy.
BG works well with the bold orange color too.
I have tons of bluebonnets here on our land, but not a one of these:frown:
Well done!
