I really like the effect you have captured with the splash of light on the heron's head, Ian. However, I feel the large specular highlights really draw my attention and become the most prominent subject in the image. I think this would really work great without the highlights.

I agree with Matt's comments. The large highlights draw my eye away from the bird. Other then that I like it.

Interesting shot Ian. Is there such a thing as bokeh in the FG? It would be a little nicer if the OOF part was a little more blended. I like the lighting on the bird which makes it stand out nicely.
