Spring Lilacs

Just returned from a few days on the road where I spotted these lilacs in bloom. The fragrance is beautiful and these colors were just lovely so I just knew I had to try these on the scanner. I like the highlights on the blossoms at the upper left corner, which is all from the scanner. I brightened up the other blossoms using Nik Software's Viveza and using control points on certain areas.

Tools: Epson Photo Scanner V33 and Nik Software's Viveza

Thanks for taking a look. Your comments are very much appreciated.

Pretty spring bouquet!
Nice perspective and placement.
Still seems a bit dark and muted to me - I'd like to see these great colours "pop" more -

This one works very well Barbara. Like the comp and arrangement. I would agree with Sandy the bloom look at little flat and some selective curves work would fix that. I'd also suggest a gradiant on the stems to have them fade to black would make the image stronger IMHO.

Lilacs? I just shot leaves stuck in shore ice!
At first glance, I would not have suspected a scanner image, due to the 3-D effect I see. Looks like there are two camps -- bright and sunny vs. soft and gentle. I really like the subdued light and colors here. Score another one for the soft and gentle camp.

Hey everyone, thanks for taking a look. The colors do seem a bit muted, but I like that look. Will try to make adjustments through the scanner software to see how I can make the colors pop. I just scanned in a Jane Magnolia with the lilacs and they seem to look a bit brighter. Wayne, maybe you need to move to the south!!! It's been so unseasonably warm that even the dogwoods are in full bloom. Stay tuned for more scan work. Thanks everyone.
