Walk in the Woods

This is from one of my winter rambles this year. Probably won't get many more as the snow is starting to 'rot' and footing, even with snowshoes, is more treacherous. I still have hopes for the spring storms but it's been a strange year all around. Thanks for looking.

This is very pretty. I like the little bit of color against the monochrome background.

Nice winter forst scene, and like Dan said the little bit of colour is quite nice for contrast!

What a funky tree! I enjoy looking at trees like this and speculating on the story behind the shape. My guess is that another tree fell on this one, when it was small. When the snow melts, go looking for a log on the ground. I like your positioning of the subject tree and how nicely it stands out from the background. The snow path into the trees adds some nice depth, also. I'm viewing on my laptop and that means that I'm never sure about colors and brightness, but to me the trees seem a touch dark. Might be worth a push of the darks slider in ACR or using TK's triple play with the opacity turned down on the multiply layer, or some other technique for brightening the background trees.

Nancy, This is gorgeous. Good exposure on the snow. The light is perfect and I love your subject tree.
Please add your shooting details, mostly out of curiosity.
Way to go.

Very nice image with a simple comp. I like the inviting path into the woods beckoning an adventurous photographer. I really like the delicate snow sitting on the tops of the branches inside. You must have gotten there soon after the snow as I doubt this feature would last long. The expsoure is excellent for capturing the snow. I agree that lightening the greens would help but also realize it may have been that dark in there.

I like this Nancy, a wonderful winter scene. The large version gives us a very nice look at it. Nice work, and nice title too...We had a gallery opening called "Walk in the Woods" with 4 photographers. It was a wonderful night with some nice photography, food, wine, and live music.

Beautiful winter scene Nancy with nice sence of depth. Your exposure is spot on for the snow showing the subtle details. BTW - Are those animal tracks?

Love the interplay of color with the warm colors of the foreground tree set against the monotones of the background. Also enjoy how the eye is lead back into the forest by the snow. Nicely done.

the tracks are coyote, Eva. I thought they went with the walk in the woods theme

I like the color of the crooked tree and the inclusion of the coyote tracks. I could see brightening the exposure just a bit. Nice work Nancy.
