Wow -thats a great shot Sally.
Well done ! Blacks could do with a tiny bit of darkening.

Thanks for feedback all.. John, interestingly I had an image that the blacks were darker, went in and "brightened up''. so now I will go back and see how I can deepen the blacks without sacrificing the brightness! will repost edits.

Nice oriole, and nice position on the branch. The composition is fine with me. It would be a better image if it had more detail in the feathers and in the bark. That could be the result of shooting through the glass, or it may be the result of a large crop followed by application of noise reduction.

Will look better with a little slide on the blacks adjustment in LR or CS5. Great composition.

Nice eye contact here Sally, the blacks look fine to me. The plumage is lacking in detail in places, so I'm guessing it may be a good sized crop. If that's the case I would give the bird a little more room around it.

Great pose from this lovely fellow!
You have lost a lot of detail in the feathers and blacks especially, as well as in the perch. You may have tried to use NR on the whole image, which usually "melts" details and doesn't work too well.
Added contrast to darken the blacks would also improve this nice image.

First of all, let me thank everyone for your replies and comments.. I have learned so much.... I have gone back and "tried out" many of your suggestions... recomposed a bit.. took out all of the NR.. upped contrast, blacks, and readjusted shadows.. If you have time let me know what you think. Thanks again.

That looks better Sally, nice job on the repost. I have edited your title to say +repost, that way people know that you have redone the image and can come back and look at it. In the future, when you do a repost I would recommend doing that.

Wonderful pose and I like the comp. The repost is much improved over the original post Sally, really nice job on bringing out the details that were lacking.
