Sandhill Cranes

Sandhill Cranes are not indigenous to Indiana but they do migrate through here twice a year. I have been hearing their call for a couple of weeks now but they fly so high that you cannot see them with the naked eye. So last week I spent a day at Goose Pond Wildlife Preserve and found a flock that was resting and feeding on their way north. I spent several hours with them but was never able to get close enough to get any ground shots without disturbing them so I settled for BIF shots. I absolutely had a ball doing this!

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

D7000, 300mm f/2.8 w/2.0 TC, f/8, 1/800 sec., ISO 800, Manual exposure mode.

I love the angle the three birds create across the frame. All three look pretty sharp to me too. :toast: I remember driving to the Jasper/Pulaski wildlife area in Indiana to see sandhill cranes when I was living in Chicago. Is this near there?

Dan, Goose Pond is in the southern part of the state but on the same migration path as Jasper/Pulaski. It makes a couple of nice breaking points for the birds.
