Welcome to NPN. These birds can be difficult so this is good work with such a short lens. It would help to know a bit about your processing: raw or jpeg from camera; how you handled white balance; how much it is cropped; etc.

Hello Richard, my son is out in Surprise for Sprnig Training right now.. he is with the Royals...
I shot this thru a living room window . the Jay was in the tree right next to the house. shot RAW, white balance was on Auto at the time. It was cropped quite a bit, I am not sure how much.. I used LR3/4 to edit.

Welcome to NPN Sally, very nice eye contact here, I think I would back off the crop a little bit and add some more space in around the bird because I think the crop size is starting to affect the image quality as some of the birds plumage looks a bit smudged. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Hello Nate, great feedback,, I went back and expanded the shot a bit........ picking up some water droplets... which are kind of nice.. not sure how to change out my original submission, so am attaching this within a commentn.. You are in Washington. I have relatives in Wenanatchee, Bonney Lake, and out on Whidby Island..

Hi Sally,
I do think your repost works better, the plumage looks crisper and I like the water droplets. Adding a repost in a comment is the correct way to add an edited image, it's not possible to change out the original. That way we get to see how the photo evolved from the critiques given and your editing.
