I've never been able to get very close to sandhills, but this one didn't mind at all.

Very cool pose with that leg up, looks like you got some excellent detail for only shooting at f4.8. Nice Work Sandy!!!

Great capture Sandy! I really like that you were able to get the exact moment wiith a push of the button when he was making his next move. The detail and sharpness is really great!

I really like the crane on green. I usually see ( and my own ) have a dry BG. I also like the raised foot pose. Hope to see you Saturday if I can make it.

Very nice to get this close, nice light and bg too. Looks like it is on a hill, I'm sure you didn't tilt the camera this much! Amazing detail in feathers and eye.

Nice detail and simple BG. I really like the raised leg pose also. These birds are very cool looking with the red and white heads, the golden eyes and the flouncy tail feathers.

A beauty, Sandy. I like the lifted foot. Red head is nicely captured. The narrow DOF nicely blurred the background. There is some kind of ?artifact just in front of his thigh. I wish he had just a little more room in front of him.

Not the background I'm used to seeing with this species. Nice exposure and detail.
