Deep within Rio Frio Cave in Belize. You can learn more about the story behind the image on my blog.

Thanks for looking!

That's pretty cool Ian! I'm picturing the boat from Willy Wonka headed down that river...you should have brought one along as a prop

"No tourists were harmed in making of this photo" & "Here be Dragons" cracked me up.

Great article Ian, it really hit home. I was in a similar environment in early January, Middle Caicos caves in the Caribbean. Difficult to get to given bad roads, remote location, and financial cost getting to those islands. My wife and I were the only ones there (and thousands of bats). It was so rewarding to be in such a remote and people-less place. I've hesitated to post images, I think people have trouble connecting with dark caverns. The eeriness of the enormous and never-ending darkness was startling! That's what "it's" about.

The warm WB and tones you've chosen are very appropriate given my experience. Rich earth tones, and water flow to boot! Well Done.

I like this alot, Ian. Very interesting to look at and enjoy. I like how the color came out in this and the long exposures are a wonderful looking effect. Really nice!

Hey Stan, I tried to find an image of the Willy Wonka boat to add into the photo but suprisingly enough I have been unable to find a good one doing a Google images search. And I thought everything could be found on the net these days . . .

Beautiful image Ian. Perfect exposure and I love the brown color; most of the caves I've been in are rather dull gray, this is a pleasant change. Wonderful composition too.

huh, i found it on the first page of the search...the one of Augustus Gloop drowning would have been cooler, but this one was easier to select using the lasso tool... ive got too much free time on my hands...

What a fantastic shot, Ian, certainly has a mysterious feel to it. The formations on the right are very interesting. Nicely seen and processed. :toast:

The specs for this image are something of a reproof for me. I need to be willing to commit to making multiple exposure even when each exposure comes at the cost of several minutes.
