The Arch

We were at the St. Louis Arch with our grandchildren and I started messing around taking images of the arch from different perspectives. This was one of my favorites. Just laid the camera along the leg of the arch and let it take in the curve. All C&C welcome and appreciated.

I like the opposing diagonal lines very much, Richard, especially as they are combined with the wonderful curve in the arch, Two thoughts come to mind as a view this. Not sure either will work. 1 would be to mask the arch or the background and play around with chaining the tones and contrast, and the second would be to experiment with the format. Square might be best; I don't know; but the subject looks as though it needs more room on the right and on the top. As I sit and look at the larger photo, the top of the arch is really crying out for more room IMO.

I knew what it was just from the thumbnail--been there several times. The play of color is subtle and very complimentary. I like the composition.

Hello, I spent some time in St. Louis this past fall with my son at BJHospital for surgery and we got to the Arch a couple of times. I found it challenging to photograph for sure... you did a great job here,, great perspective and use of light.. very enjoyable to see.
