Alberta Falls

These falls are commonly photographed, but it is a great location, in Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a blend of two images, one for the water and sky, and another for the trees.

Canon 60d 10-22mm @ 16mm
ISO 100---f/20---I forget what filters I had on...

Great job on the blend and comp, and the sharpness throughout is excellent Nathan, it looks a tad dark but not enough to spoil the view.

Cheers, Gary.

I like the composition and the blur of the water. I also would have liked to see the color in the image.

Nice comp and blended light. Could maybe see trying to pull a bit more texture out of the trees, but this is very enjoyable to look at as is.

Nathan,

Excellent job with the blend/processing. I really like the vertical comp and flow. Many times fallen logs can be an annoyance in a scene like this, but I think in your image their are nice lines and angles created that compliment the flow of things. Nice job.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Gary---I'll look into the brightness of this. Thanks for the tip...
Richard---Honestly, the color version isn't that interesting, IMO. Perhaps I'll look into posting that, though, if someone can tell me how to repost, or something...
Tony---Now that you mention it, those trees aren't quite right. Thanks for the input...
Lon---I'm glad the logs turned out alright! Unfortunately, I make it up to RMNP only a few times a year, so I got a break...

For extra info., this was taken last summer. Also, I cloned out a hiker just above the falls. He was taking a picture, wearing a bright shirt, but fortunately he disappeared quite nicely!

I like your composition here and the B&W conversion looks great (along with the blend). You have a good range of tonal values throughout the image and the contrast adds depth. The skies look a bit ominous - looks like one of those famous Rocky Mountain thunderstorms is brewing. I really enjoy this. :wavey:

Brian---I did some dodging and burning in Photoshop which included darkening those clouds. The sky was a bit threatening that day, but nothing ended up coming of it! We had a great hike up to Mills Lake. Thanks for your comment...

Beautiful work. But I think the trees on the pine trees on the left could use a 1/3 stop dodge.
