Ship on a mountain

Every time I look at this mountain, I always think of the flatiron as the bow of a ship and the surrounding mountains as the crashing waves. I was very fortunate to have some very nice light for this image. I double processed the RAW file and then blended for dynamic range. This is a crop from a horizontal as the foreground wasn't quite appealing. I also cloned out a few branch tips that intruded into this frame. Comments and critiques appreciated.

I would have put a large version but the file size was too big, my website should have a large version to view.

Great subject and light, Peter. The version on your website is better to look at.

I love rock formations and this one's very interesting--the light's beautiful and I like the clouds--very nice!

Beautiful colors and light, and perfect processing. I agree the larger version on your website is much better to view.

Thank you everyone, I'm hoping to reshoot this with nice light and stitch the images for a true pano and print it big. A lot of nice details in the mountains when blown up big.

The pano format works well Peter, I like how the colorful clouds balance out the right hand side of the image. Nicely done.

Thank you Tony, Eva, and Zack. I would have preferred a little more cloud cover on the left side and maybe just slightly less on the right, but I won't complain because the light only lasted for a short time and I got the glow I wanted.

Nice pano. Where did you get all the clouds? I was there a few weeks ago and never saw a cloud. We tried to make the hike up to flatiron. Made it most of the way but the last part was just too much. This is a great place and Lost Dutchman State Park is a great place to camp.

Thanks Nick and Walt!

Walt- This was shot on the 13th. Out of coincidence, I was at lost dutchman exactly a year from that date and both times was given generous skies. I've never camped there before nor hiked to the top of flatiron. Personally, I think the view from up top is hideous, Id rather look up at a majestic mountain peak than look over a smog invested city. Therefore, I will probably never hike to the top.
