Serious

This snowy egret was very serious about what he was doing and did not pay any attention to me at all. I really like the way his feathers are puffed. I have the hardest time with exposure on white birds. Any exposure technique you could share would be helpful. All C & C's welcome. (I have just become the new owner of PS CS5, so this is my first time resizing a photo for the web.)

Actually the exposure looks quite good to me here and I like the behavior on this snowy. When faced with a tough exposure I will often shoot several shots and adjust the exposure control. As long as the bird will tolerate it I may shoot 3-4 different pictures with different exposure controls. When I get home i can better examine the pictures and file into my memory what works better for the nest time out.

Exposure looks great to me! I also like the puffy feathers and intent look. a lower camera would have been good here, and might have shown a nice eye.
I often bracket exposures, and constantly check the histogram. This gives me the best chance to end up with something close to perfect, and then a little more tweaking with Viveza does the trick.

Exposure looks fine. Maybe warm it up just a smidge. :toast:

Exposure is spot-on and I like the textures of the ruffled plumage.
