Cave Fire

this was taken last month. We FINALLY got enough rain to light our burn piles. Believe me, all the ranches were lit up that night! After a year's drought, we had a lot to burn.

This shot looked like there were long caverns on fire. The detail inside the fire is exquisite...IMO

I like the rich tones in the fire. There's a lot of negative space in the shot - I wonder if getting in closer to fill the frame with fire would work well. Some black is nice - but I think there is too much here. Don't get TOO close though!

Thanks Varina...when I get back to Richmond, I know exactly how to put your advice to work. I'm going to crop to show only the bottom diagonal set of fire "caves".

Right now, I'm visiting my new (first) grandson for a week!

I was really surprised to see so much detail in the flames. I thought the flames would just be blurred colors. But, it was neat to see so many sharp color changes.
My grandson IS gorgeous. I can't wait to post his photo in the lounge! Although, that would mean going home...which I'm not ready to do, yet. Unfortunately, I do have to go home on Tuesday...my husband won't take care of my horses forever!
