Olympus E-5, 300mm x 2.0TC, tripod
f6.3, 1/400, ISO200

Another shot from a day's birding with Charlie Van Tassel, this one from Anzo-Borrego State Park. Late afternoon light behind the Chollo.

80% of full frame. Selective brightening; usual sharpening drill. Again, brightness is difficult to judge on my uncalibrated laptop.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

This is really nice Jim, an excellent capture of this bird in habitat. The brightness looks fine to me and I love composition and the colors.

Jim,
I really like this photo. I almost feel like walking on my tip-toes when I look at it. I like the way the background color compliments the color of the bird. The curve of the Chollo under his feet from left to right brings my eye right to the subject. This photo is visually very interesting.

Wow! What an appropriate setting for a cactus wren. Very cool shot. Personally I would crop out a little of the open space at the top of the frame about to the top of the cactus bud at the right center.

Quite a prickley environment for this fellow, Jim. I agree, it would be worthwhile to try teasing out a catchlight here. However, it's a minor point seeing how beautiful is this comp.

One of my favorite birds to play 'hide and seek' with in the desert behind our place. I like the how you included more of the cholla to show habitat and how these birds seems impervious to cactus needles. Nice job in getting this, way to go.
