Olympus E-5, 300mm x 2.0 TC, tripod
f5.7, 1/320, ISO320

A Lawrence's Goldfinch, photographed in fellow NPN member Charlie van Tassel's backyard Tuesday morning. My wife and I were lucky enough to get to spend most of a day birding and photographing birds with Charlie. Great birds, great fun and a terrific time. It's pretty amazing to pick up lifer birds drinking coffee on someone's patio.

Thanks, Charlie!

70% of full frame. Brightened slightly (I'm working from a laptop with problematic brightness). Usual sharpening drill.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Love that suspicious over the shoulder look! A nice and simple BOAS photo. The detail is impressive, lovely light. No nits. :toast:

Nice bird and image. The few we have her in AZ this winter are rather skittish and stay high or deep in the vegetation.

Real pretty Jim. I love the little look. Not sure but sems as though the focus point may have been on the back end of the body. Maybe a little more sharpening on the face.

This one really shows off the colors on this bird well. It was great to meet you and Nancy, and I had a great time too. I still don't have any shots of these guys from this season, so you beat me to it. :toast:

nice one, Jim--great pose, bg, and comp. I agree with Cheryl about maybe a little more sharpening for the head.

Sounds like a rough way to go about birding. Very nice composition with good detail and complimentary background. Maybe a slight head turn motion blur but a minor item as the rest of the image looks great. Well done.
