CANON 7D
100-400 L is
iso 400
1/160 @ f11
Uncropped .
Handheld from car window.
This was taken in the south of Israel near a place called Mitzpeh Rimon
which is in the desert area at close to 1000 meters above sea level.
These Ibex wander this area and are not scared as long as you stay in the car.
Otherwise they wander off down the side of the cliffs.
This guy came so close and I decided to show how big there eyes are .

I am familiar with Mitzpe Ramon. I too posted an ibex image taken there. I also have been impressed with the big amber eyes of the Israeli ibex. I realize the intent of the tight crop was to show off the eyes. That you accomplished. The image is well exposed and sharp. I think, for my tastes, a little more room all around would improve the image.

Great shot, Avi! The larger photo certainly does the subject justice - the eyes are really freaking me out! Great detail and color...nice and close and intimate! :toast:

Lovely eyes indeed and good detail in this image Avi. Your choice of aperture was a good one IMO, resulting in enough detail on the subject as well as a smooth OOF BG. As presented I find it a bit too tightly framed, which does not make for a pleasing composition. Since this is FF I would suggest to experiment with a tighter crop as an alternative; not sure if that will work though.

Yes I know it's a problem that the ears are cut and the hair on the chin as well.
But sometimes there is not much one can do and you take the maximum you can from the shot.
Vincent I have tried a few different crops but this is the best but I prefer the FF

Avi, I will be contrary to the other opinions and say I like it best as posted because I think the lines of the horns and ears radiating out of the frame make for an interesting composition/shape...and the eyes are cool.

Hi Avi, in your repost I now miss the horns with their ribbed texture, an interesting feature. I tried some crops, but none did improve the comp so I guess a tighter crop is not really an option here after all.

Avi, I do like the tighter crop as well as the first post. Very sharp image! Thanks for sharing.
