From my Tanzania tour in August. Ideally I would have wanted a cleaner BG or a Baobob nearby.....but only a few opportunities. I should have taken out the 17-40....but with something that big.....even the driver was a bit nervous!
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the 100-400 @ 100mm at f10 for 1/100 sec. and ISO 1250 flashed at minus 1&2/3. Yeah.....it was very overcast! Converted and processed in CS5.

The processing makes this feel surreal, yet with strong graphic appeal.

Roman, I like how the calf is peeking from behind its mother. The processing looks really cool, although it seems a bit oversharpened in the larger version. I don't mind the BG really, it is distant and OOF enough not to be distracting and in fact it puts the subject nicely in its habitat.

I'm very pleased with the frame; the placement of Ele and the calf in the picture is very good.
But as Vincent mentioned, it has been over sharpened and it is going against the mood here.

Hi Roman, it's good to see some black and white photos in here, and this one really works wonderfully. The larger version certainly does the photo justice (even though the over processing is slightly noticeable). A great candid moment of a magnificent animal. :toast:
