Sleeping Bear Dunes

I can hardly believe that this is the first week of February in Northern Michigan. I have rarely seen as fine a combination of clouds and light as this past weekend. Still trying to master a new 17-35 mm lens. Seems to have a lot of vignetting below 19 mm.

The blowing grasses convey a wind-swept feel to this, and I like the warm/cool contrast between the golden dunes and the blue sky. My only suggestion might be a crop with either more sky or more dunes, to eliminate the 50/50 split. I also like the detailed ripples in the sand, so I'd prefer to see a bit more of the dunes. Minor nit, nice image regardless.

We've had a very warm winter here in Grand Junction as well. Above normal temps since Nov., and 1/3 our normal snowfall. Would be kind of nice to have a little white stuff to go play in.

Tom, Beautiful light and color here!. The wind blown grasses work very nice and I really like the rippled sand. This has a nice feel to me. Good luck with your new lens!

Beautiful image--I love the lighting on the sand and the softness of that beautiful sky!

Lovely color contrasts, Tom, the 50/50 split works nicely here.
