Shot this stag at a nice big nature reserve in Seoul, Korea, on a very cold Dec 30th morning. It was a bit of a hazy day, which I tried to clean up in PSE9.

Canon EOS 60D
Lens:Sigma DG 120-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 APO OS HSM
Focal Length: 400mm
f8.0
Shutter 1/500
ISO800
HH
Cropped about 60%

Comments and constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Nice shot of the sika deer stag. I do wish the other deer did not have its head cut off, but I know sometimes you got to take what you are given! It does appear just a bit soft. I do like the expression on the stag. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mark, this sure is a specimen worth photographing with that big rack! Looking at the larger version the image does appear a bit soft there where it needs to be sharp (on the head of the animal). I echo John about the deer in the BG being cut-off and further I would have preferred it without the man-made elements in the frame. The vertical poles on the right could be cropped off, but the pipe on the ground would need some more work.

I agree he makes a fine main subject and it is too bad the other was behind him. How about a return trip?

Thanks John, Vincent, and Lon for taking the time to comment/ critique my work...it's very much appreciated. It wasn't the best picture to work with, but I really loved the stag. Weather's started warm up a little around, so hopefully some return trips will yield some better results. :toast: Mark
