I photographed this Cicada Killer this past summer. The look pretty agressive close up.....fortunately for us they are not!
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the Sigma 180mm macro and Canon MT 24 twin lights at ISO 800 and f22 for 1/125 sec. hand held.

Nice catch. This has been a subject I've been watching for for years. I never seem to have my camera when I see this. I used to see this often at a sand volleyball at a YMCA, but we stopped being members before I got around to bringing a camera. Then there was a popular spot for these guys behind a youth baseball backstop. To my dismay, one of the coaches took care of the "problem" after the game.

The dual flash worked very nicely here. The faint shadows really keep this from looking over-flashed. Nice that f22 and the photographer's skill kept all eyes in focus.

Excellent capture of the action. The detail is remarkable, and the insect colors are striking. Excellent work to get this at f22 rendering the subjects sharp from front to back. All in all, a first rate image, IMO. :toast:

Great shot, Roman! The detail in this is wonderful; also great lighting and comp. The "killer" looks like he is warning you off from his prey!
