At the shore of Lake Neusiedl in the Pannonian Steppes in the eastern part of Austria. This is a shot from December 2010. Standing there I experienced absolute silence, only sometimes interrupted by the cracking of the ice.

I always like these types of scenes, with the cracked ice and the low sun highlighting the ice. It looks like you had just enough clouds to filter the sun without blocking it. Well done.

The ice plates with the sun reflecting off of them are very attractive. I also like that you've got the sun just above that clump of trees in the distance. Great job of keeping the light under control.

The light dancing on the ice is just beautiful, Peter. What a lovely shot!
