Pintails Classic Pose

by Craig Strand

After carving detailed ducks and birds for over 30 years, I finally got this pintail earlier today and in their classic Tails up pose. I think this one may just be my best pintail shot to date and I'm pleased add it to my gallery. Image captured at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, WA

Gorgeous shot of this pintail Craig, great detail and a wonderful reflection. I would like to see a little more room on the left if you have it, as I think it would enhance the comp.

I love it. A "formal" composition. Wonderful understated natural color.

Excellent Craig, I especially like the environment and birds reflection here.
The birds colors and this habitat have created an attractive look.
In other words, the B&W and sepia tones work together very nicely here.
Well done! :toast:

Wonderful pose, reflection and nice job on dealing with the difficult color contrast on the pintail and not blowing out the whites.
Well done. :toast:

nice one, Craig. great pose and a nice setting. you have certainly mastered the beanbag technique, with very good results at slow shutter speeds.

Nice shot, Craig. I love the colors, especially the way the brown of the pintail and the water blend.
Really well done.

My favorite duck. Nice color and reflection, almost antique looking.

Craig,
What a specimen. Really nicely done. Love the tail up position. The water color and the setting are just superb. Nice control over the whites too. Would love to see just a smidge more room in front but that is only a personal preference. Superb image Craig.
