Another shot from my day at the conservatory hiding out from winter. I shot it using the shadows as a dark BG.

Simple and elegant! Love the bright colours against the dark BG. Maybe just a little too much dead space in front for my tastes..not sure.

I like the colours, the dark BG and the composition very much. I like the curved green branch towards the upper right corner.

Colours, comp and the reaching out curve make it a beautiful image.

Lorna:
Beautiful curve and color. Yes, the bg really makes the bloom pops.

I really like the comp on this, Lorna. I'm often a tight cropper but I like the feel all the empty space gives to this image. Beautiful combination of colors that contrasts so nicely with the dark background. I think I would wish it could all be in focus but understand that may have brought out too much of the background detail. Black felt would have worked to achieve this. A real eye-catching image!

Lorna: Looks like a tough plane of focus problem but this still works well for me. I'm still not sure about this amount of negative space but its an old guy thing. Nicely done.>=))>

Thanks everyone for the great feed back , I know my use of larger N. space is an point but it can't be helped I am negatively spaced challenged !!! Any room cut off for me just does not sit well, maybe it is the painter side of me but it would feel closterfobic to me, rack it up to artist folly !!! I love you all for trying to help cure me but I am afraid there is no Hope !!

Love your well off-centre compositions, Lorna. I guess it's the cheeky angles of the flowers that somehow fill the frame; lovely colouring too.

Lorna, I have no issues at all with the comp, including the negative space. The image is beautifully and interestingly composed, IMO. However, I personally would prefer a little more DOF in the petals.

I like the colors, detail, dof and background, but I do think the flowers are a little close to the edge, feels a little tight and a little to much dead apace on the right.

Perfect arrangement of blossoms and stem, the curve is classic. A beautiful combination of colors against the bg. Very nicely done.
