This is awesome Cheryl  Great action and detail, although he is camoflaged he stands out nicely with it's habitat.

Great shot, Cheryl ! Yes, the foreground is a bit too busy, but this is a great image of the bird in his natural habitat !
Cheers. Mauro

I fine image indeed. Down here we never see owls active during the day.

Really nice Cheryl. I like the BG as it really shows this bird's habitat. Bird is sharp. Not sure how much this is cropped, but in the larger version the fine detail in the owl is lacking a bit. Or maybe it was a bit of motion blur. Overall a very nice shot.

I like this, Cheryl. I like the setting, even if it is busy, and the comp and takeoff pose are both very strong. I agree with Ron that the larger version doesn't seem quite tack sharp, but not by much.

I like habitat shots Cheryl and this one with the dry moss (?) in the BG is very cool. I think the unsharp areas of the owl look like motion blur to me. The legs look sharp and so does the head. The upper parts of the body and wings are the things less sharp, which usually means motion blur...most owls fly very fast, so that wouldn't surprise me even at 1/1250. Nice work

Great habitat shot. Like your shutter speed, allowing the nearly fanned right wing to show an effective amount of motion blur.

Thanks everyone. Busy bg for sure and makes for a different shot I guess. I too think maybe motion blur as it is mostly on the wings. Not sure.

A very cool habitat shot. Good detail in the bird and a good sense of motion offered from the blur of the wings. Nicely captured Cheryl.

Cool shot, Cheryl.
I wish there wasn't quite as much motion blur on the right wing. My eye keeps getting pulled into that upper left corner where there is also some background blur. I have to force myself back to the owl. The image reminds me of a museum display the way it is lit.
Nice work.

Very nice action shot. I really like the take-off pose with the fanned out wing and the mossy BG is great.

I really like this image. My office staff follows this website every day and this was a favorite for them. Excellent motion in the wings and I like the full spread in the right one.
